Tobimatsu Toki
From Tokyo
With an intention to revitalize milk glass lampshades that declined in popularity during the Taisho and Showa periods due to the rise of fluorescent lights, Hirotaka Tobimatsu, ceramic artist from Saga, Japan, founded Tobimatsu Toki, combining his last name with Toki, which means “ceramics”. Merging his experience in three-dimensional sculpting and slip casting, and experiment to achieve the perfect translucency in porcelain clay, Tobimatsu Toki‘s pendant lights aim to re-illuminate life through a nostalgic, warm glow.
